About me
As Vice-President, University Advancement, Krishan Mehta leads Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) fundraising and alumni relations programs. A respected leader in philanthropy, stewardship, and engagement, Krishan has been a driving force within the TMU community since 2013.
He brings 25 years of higher education advancement expertise to his role, spanning comprehensive campaigns, diaspora philanthropy, principal and major gifts, and global alumni engagement. Prior to joining TMU, Krishan held senior fundraising leadership roles at the University of Toronto and served as Executive Director of Marketing and Advancement at Seneca Polytechnic.
Known for building transformational partnerships, Krishan connects academic leaders with community partners to champion interdisciplinary initiatives, seed funding, and pan-university priorities. His strategic leadership has successfully modernized alumni governance, mobilized campaign volunteer groups, and expanded international alumni networks.
An accomplished academic, Krishan holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, where his research explored philanthropy within Canada’s newcomer and diaspora communities. He designed and leads the Fundraising Management certificate program at TMU’s G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education, and teaches in Carleton University’s graduate program in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership.
